| Apart
from the bathrooms and breakfast rooms that are attached to the house, guests
have the seclusion of their own space in tiny romantic huts. In fine weather
afternoon teas and breakfasts are served on the deep verandahs. Fires are
set in the cosy but tasteful breakfast rooms on chilly days. Click on the images to get a better view. Click here to find out about rates & bookings. |
| Verandah Hut This hut with its charming shutters all round and sunny brass day bed with lots of sheep skins. It has electricity, and a toilet shower and hand basin en suite. There is a cassette stereo and electric blanket with a kettle for plunge coffee or hot chocolate. For those who like to be close to their car and their outside bath, to have an open fire as well as candles with back up electricity, this is the one to choose. | ||

Many
guests however ask specifically for a hut with no electricity. The Bedouin
Creek Hut is right beside the charming water cress and mint filled
stream with a little verandah for putting your feet up on and having supper
in the lantern light. A Norwegian wood stove fire keeps this hut toasty
and you can still see the flames from the fire in your bed. The sound
of the rushing stream fills your ears at night. No electricity, but lots
of candles and a very private bath area. Your car can be parked behind
the hut, and private herb filled modern bathroom 30 yards away back at
house.

| The Lost Weekend Hut is the largest of the three with two rooms. It has an open fire and a gas ring for making hot drinks or heating up a pot of soup. In this hut it is so quiet you can hear your own hearts beating at night and the dawn chorus is like liquid honey in the ears. Lots of candles and a chandelier, a great brass bed, even rafters to swing on! This hut is 100 yards from your car and also from the modern private bathroom, but despite this it's a favourite with the honeymooners or couples getting back together after an overseas trip and expecting a bit of jet lag. | ||
| Guest
rooms are ready by 4pm daily and afternoon tea is provided usually a coffee
and fudge or hot chocolate and grapes, maybe an iced coffee or hazelnut
milkshake. The baths are heated for guests at an agreed time and all they
need do is cool them down, add the bath bubbles and slide in. Room service
is possible only to the Verandah Hut and breakfasts/ brunches are served
up to just past midday and included in the tariff. Fresh seasonal fruits
with maple syrup, ground hazelnuts and yoghurt is followed by local sweet
and savoury pastries and breads and made that morning pesto with coffees
or juices. Photos by Chris Moorhouse Click here to find out about rates & bookings. |
