The walktracks around
the farm are also well known and can take up to an hour but there are
shorter walks to suit levels of fitness across the valleys up to the walnut
grove, down to the village or up and around and the Purple Peak Mountain.
It's a wonderful place for a meander through the hushed stillness of a
forest walking on the beds of soft pine needles and great vistas through
the native ribbonwoods and open pastures stocked with black Romney sheep
and coloured lambs in spring.
All the walks are on reasonably well defined tracks although running shoes are
advised or footwear with a good tread.
For house guests who choose not to bring a picnic supper basket its is
a two minute drive or a 20 minute walk to the village with its cafes and
restaurants on the waterfront.
